Each June we take on a select number of SDSU and USD graduate students who have completed their first year of the MFT program. We hand-pick our trainees based on their experience, maturity, social location, interest in post-modern ideas and social justice, and applicable skills from their previous work histories.
Each MFT Trainee completes a one-year Traineeship, as part of our Narrative Immersion Training™ model, in which they are able to practice and hone their clinical skills under the direct supervision and mentorship of a licensed therapist and/or AAMFT Supervision candidate, and within our multi-generational, extended community of Narrative Therapy practitioners. After completing their year with us, they will have gained 500 hours of direct clinical experience. This prepares them for graduation and a subsequent Associateship where they will gain another 2500 hours of clinical experience before licensure by the State of California.
