Dr. Jan Ewing, Ph.D., LMFT

Jan is the Founder & Co-Director of NISD, having launched the non-profit in 2006. She brings more than 30 years of clinical experience to her role, including leadership roles at two university-based counseling clinics at Loma Linda University and San Diego State University. She is a full-time faculty in the MFT Graduate Program at San Diego State University and an AAMFT Approved Supervisor/Mentor.

Mona Klausing, M.S., LMFT

Mona began her career at NISD in 2014 and in 2016 was promoted to Co-Director and Board Member. She has a background in business and marketing in Fortune 500 high tech companies and small, grassroots non-profit organizations spanning more than two decades. She is an adjunct faculty in the Counseling & School Psychology Dept. at San Diego State University, an AAMFT-Approved Supervisor/Mentor, and leads a group practice, Avani Counseling, with licensed and pre-licensed clinicians.

C. Marcia Grant, M.S. LMFT

Marcia is an AAMFT-Approved Supervisor with 14 years of experience providing counseling to individuals, groups, and families. She also serves as faculty at San Diego Continuing Education. Prior to discovering her passion for counseling, Grant was employed by the Federal Reserve Bank as an International Bank Examiner and held a Series 7 General Securities Representative license.

Angela Hummel

Angie is a Nationally Board Certified retired high school educator with 30 years experience leading students to successfully navigate their personal journey from high school to higher educational opportunities and career pathways. She has worked extensively with industry partners and non-profit organizations, and is passionate about connecting learning to real world issues and challenges.  She currently serves as an advisory board member for the Academy of Information Technology (AOIT) and the Sustainable Academy of Building and Engineering (SABE) at Hoover High School in San Diego, and continues to work to connect public education with broader community based learning opportunities for high school students.
