A Note from Jaime:
“Who are we becoming in these acts of living?” – Michael White
As an associate marriage and family therapist (AMFT#146709) trained in narrative therapy practices, I am passionate about exploring with you all the rich possibilities of becoming and living. I see life as a journey whose paths and destinations are yours to explore and relate to in ways that reflect your values and the identity you prefer. I hope to collaborate with you in creating more space to explore more preferred ways of being and relating.
I have experience working with children, teens, adults, couples, and families from many diverse populations. I also have a variety of lived experiences that have expanded my ability to question assumptions, be curious, and listen empathetically.
In individual therapy, I seek to empower my clients to explore and develop their identities and reclaim agency in their own lives. I work together with my clients to understand and clarify values, hopes, and initiatives for preferred directions in life. I have experience working in collaboration with individuals from many diverse backgrounds to reclaim agency over the influences of eating disorders, disordered eating, anxiety, depression, trauma, and shame. I have also collaborated with individuals to identify and honor preferences in navigating life transitions such as school-related stressors, career development, relationships, and gender identity. I have also worked with clients to build and deepen connection to and understanding of important aspects of identity such as creativity, artistry, and expression.
In couples therapy, I seek to create space for partners and family members to practice the acts of listening and witnessing each other’s experiences. I help partners and family members clarify their individual values and preferences so that their shared hopes and values as a couple and/or family can be understood and constructed in collaboration. I have worked with a variety of couples looking to build solid foundations for long-term commitment. I have also created space for couples seeking to navigate divorce, infidelity, and conflict in a respectful, understanding environment.
In family therapy with parents and children, I work with family members to recognize intentions, hopes, and values in order to foster understanding and unity. I strive to create an environment where blame is not invited to thwart communication. I have had experience uniting families of children from 8 to 17 against the influence of anger, anxiety, school-related issues, eating disorders, disordered eating, and self-harm.
It is my great honor to elevate and privilege the voices of my clients. I hope to collaborate with you in questioning constrained descriptions of life to create more space for you to reauthor, explore, and discover new possibilities of being and becoming. It would be my honor to join with you in elevating and privileging your voice, experiences, knowledge, preferred meaning, and values in our conversations together.
