A Note from Wenjing:

Hi! I am Wenjing, pronounced as “When Gin?” It is lovely to meet you here!

I am currently pursuing my Master of Science in Marriage and Family Therapy at the University of Southern California (USC). Born and raised in China, I immigrated to the United States with my partner and became a proud resident of Hillcrest, San Diego. I obtained my bachelor’s degree in marketing at the Chinese University of Hong Kong and a master’s in art history at the University of Glasgow. Prior to my career transition to counseling, I worked in consumer product marketing in several multinational corporations for about a decade.

Growing up, I longed for diversity and adventure. Before moving to the U.S., I studied and worked in China, the U.K., and Denmark. My exposure to different cultures prompted me to be curious, open-minded, and non-judgmental. I learned to critically examine how societal factors shape individual experiences. My previous profession in marketing involved extensive consumer research with people from all social locations. I found those in-depth interviews, focus groups, and in-home visits fascinating, where besides asking product-related questions, we also always started every interview by asking about their life purpose, sources of happiness, hopes, and dreams. I gradually realized that I would prefer these conversations not to be aimed at bringing bestselling product concepts, but at improving the mental health of these beautiful individuals.

Therapy, for me, is a journey of rediscovery of the self. I am inspired by the creative part of the Narrative approach that transforms a problem-saturated story into a more enriched, balanced, and appreciative life. Together we will explore the hidden strength, wisdom, peace and warmth in you. It would be my honor to be there for you when you are reintroduced to yourself and realize the forgotten gems in your own history.

I am bilingual and bicultural, which I am passionate to offer therapy in Mandarin. If you wish to do therapy in Cantonese, I can also understand fully. My immigration journey has also made me feel even more connected to my cultural heritage as well as my different identities. I am eager to serve the AAPI community and those with diverse gender, sexuality, and relationship identities; and advocate for social justice in these areas.

Thank you for reading! I look forward to being the co-creator of your healing story!
